Mosaic Bluebird

I came across a painting by Harry Dunkerley from the U.K. this year and tagged it as something I would like to recreate. As many of you know, I love birds and birdwatching and the composition of his painting struck a chord within me.

Prints of his are available for purchase by visiting Wunderkid and according to their website 50% of the proceeds go to funding the tuition for Wunderkids.

I used Arches hot pressed, 140 lb watercolor paper in size 9 x 12 inches for my painting. I tend to gravitate to the cold pressed paper which has more texture, but thought the smooth texture of the hot pressed my be a better choice for this application.
