Wild Geranium aka herb Robert

I came across a beautiful pink geranium photo taken by Louise DeMasi. I have wild geraniums planted along my back deck and I have always loved these faithful little perennials. I look forward to their return each spring. However, I look at them differently now after discovering that they are the source of many home remedies. Knowledge that has been passed down generation to generation by native peoples. Learn more about it here: Wild Geranium Health Benefits

This painting seemed so simple at first, I almost abandoned it, but as the layers of pinks and magentas deepened in richness and vibrancy, I found that I was drawn to finish it. I am glad that I did. The pink and soft greens against the stark white background is simply stunning.

I used the following colors in various strengths and mixtures:

Permanent Rose

Quinacridone Magenta

French Ultramarine

Hansa Yellow

Painted on 9 x 12 inch Strathmore Watercolor paper, 140 lbs.

The first photo shows progress 30 minutes into painting, the middle photo shows the painting finished at 2 hours. The third photo is a reference photo free for download on pixabay. You will find numerous photos of pink geraniums free for download on pixabay, this is but one example: Pink Geranium.

I love my little geraniums even more now.
