American Bulldog-The Bold & The Beautiful

Uh oh, Mom, am I in trouble? This sweet little fellow has a look of concern. But with a face like that, I bet he can get away with anything.

I searched for reference photos and information on this dog breed and came up with several as well as a video that shows off the personality of the breed.

My bulldog was painted on Arches Watercolor Pad, 9 x 12 inches, 140 lb Cold Pressed Paper. The following watercolor paints were used: Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Paynes Gray, Black and White Ink for the whiskers.

A friend of mine breeds English Bulldogs. He has some beauties as can be seen here, check out Sully below:

I love painting pets and I have started getting requests to paint beloved pets for their owners. It's a tall order. To show the emotion and personality of a pet through a watercolor painting is something that I continue to work on. Time to practice some more!

Onward and upward,

Happy Monday!
