All in the Family: Acrylic Painting

Group painting classes are all the rage right now. We have local Starving Artist workshops as well as Paint and Sip classes available to small groups in my area. Check your local business area to see what might be available to you. The class size may be smaller due to current restrictions, or they may be Zoom attendance only, but it is a nice way to chase away the winter blahs that will be coming soon. Grab a friend and go see what you can create. I have my eye on a local class titled 'Paint Your Pet'. I may go although I have no experience in painting in acrylic. I would love to paint my Ginger Cat, Buddy.

So, even if you have absolutely no painting experience at all, simply show up with your courage and enthusiasm in hand to get all the help you need. You will make friends, laugh a lot and leave with a feeling of accomplishment. And best of all you will leave with a painting that you created with your very own hands. It offers a relaxed atmosphere for everyone, including those who already have a bit of painting experience.

My niece is a full time nursing student and she recently discovered the joy of painting. (I may have been the bit of encouragement she needed) :) She attended local acrylic painting classes with friends and picked up a brush for the first time in her life. She found the experience to be quite Zenlike and it relieved a lot of stress that being a full time nursing student can bring on. Here are her paintings. I think she is hooked!

Some classes are being offered via Zoom until normal operations resume. If it is via Zoom, the way it works in most cases is: Sign up for the class your are interested in, pay the fee and the supplies are mailed to you. Participation is from your own home via a Zoom link to complete your painting. This could be a fun winter activity for families. Hot cocoa and painting, what could be better on a winter day?

For friends in my North Central WV area, here are links to our local classes:

Happy Painting everyone and please share your creations with me! I love seeing them. You can share them in the comments section, or email them to me at haflanagan@art-for-arts-sake.com
